Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Slide While Dogecoin Gains as Trump Rejects Iran's Hormuz Proposal: Analyst Sees B

Leading cryptocurrencies stagnated on Sunday as investors weighed ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations alongside a series of anticipated macroeconomic data.

Crypto Rally Halts

Bitcoin slipped below $84,000 Sunday evening after briefly topping $85,000 earlier in the day. Ethereum wobbled between $2,667 and $2,720, while Dogecoin inched higher.

Over $190 million was liquidated from the cryptocurrency market in the last 24 hours, split nearly evenly between long and short positions, according to Coinglass data.

Bitcoin’s open interest fell 0.50% over the last 24 hours and more than 11% over the past week. Binance whale derivatives traders flipped “Bullish” on BTC, while the retail crowd remained “Neutral.”

“Greed” sentiment prevailed in the market, according to the Crypto Fear & Greed Index.

The global cryptocurrency market capitalization stood at $2.97 trillion, down 0.60% over the last 24 hours.

Stock Futures Slide

Stock futures ticked lower late Sunday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average Futures fell 152 points, or 0.30%, as of 8:49 p.m. EDT.  S&P 500 futures slid 0.21%, while Nasdaq 100 Futures dropped 0.19%.

President Donald Trump said he had rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end fighting, but hopes the two sides will reach an agreement before or after the midterms.
