The Crypto Fear and Greed Index has fallen to 56, down from an August peak of 82, as Bitcoin absorbed hits from oil prices, bond yields and exchange-traded fund outflows in October.
As of October 12, 2026, Bitcoin was changing hands between $82,400 and $83,600. That followed a dip to a low of approximately $80,337 on October 8.
The move left Bitcoin down about 3% on the week.
The pullback lined up with heavy selling in US spot Bitcoin ETFs. On October 7-8, those funds saw a net withdrawal of $484.9 million. That was the largest single-day outflow since June.
BlackRock's IBIT accounted for about $207.7 million of those redemptions.
The Fear and Greed Index had been sitting near 80 in early October before sliding into the mid-50s by October 12.
The US 10-year Treasury yield climbed to approximately 5.3%. Brent crude, meanwhile, pushed above $100 per barrel amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Still, Bitcoin has held above several key moving averages, including the 50-week average, which sits at approximately $77,200.
Bitcoin moved from $76,800.2 to $82,605 over the last 30-day period, a gain of 7.6 percent.

For much of the past month, Bitcoin has bounced inside a range of $80,000 to $87,000. The October 8 low tested the bottom edge of that band without decisively breaking it.
