The transaction brings about 30 NYDIG employees to BitGo along with roughly 250 institutional client relationships, according to Reuters.
NYDIG's trading unit serves asset managers, hedge funds, corporates, family offices and other sophisticated investors across financing, derivatives and capital markets products. Folding that business into BitGo gives the crypto custodian a wider institutional offering that can connect trading and risk management with its regulated custody and settlement stack.
More From Cryptoprowl:
BitGo CEO and co-founder Mike Belshe said institutions increasingly want a partner that can support the "full lifecycle of digital assets," from custody and trading through financing and settlement. The company said the acquisition should also help keep more client assets and activity inside its platform.
BitGo has been building toward that model throughout 2026. In May, the company launched a modular infrastructure platform for banks covering custody, trading, staking, settlement and stablecoin services, part of an effort to position itself as more than a standalone crypto custodian. Its regulated footprint also includes BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association.
