Bithumb Launches Information Security Campaign to Eliminate Fake AI Crypto Trading Scams

Warning Against Malware Disguised as AI Investment Assistants and Automated Trading Programs

Bithumb is launching a campaign to prevent damage from malware distributed through "fake artificial intelligence (AI) automated trading programs and investment analysis tools." This initiative is part of its information security campaign for September 2026.

Scammers attempt to lure investors with phrases such as "AI conducts trading autonomously for high returns," and "lossless automated trading is possible just by connecting your API Key." In reality, they entice users to install unauthorized malware that steals sensitive information from their devices.

If a device is infected with such fake programs, critical information—including IDs and passwords stored in the browser, login session cookies, API keys, private keys to personal wallets, and even seed phrases—can all be leaked.

Bithumb is providing practical security guidelines. First, users should never download unauthorized programs in executable (.exe) or compressed (.zip) formats distributed through search ads, social networking services (SNS), or messenger links. Instead, they should use official verification channels.

If you wish to use AI-based automated trading, Bithumb recommends utilizing verified official services such as its "Bithumb AI TradeKit." Critical security information that grants asset access (such as API Keys, private keys, and seed phrases) must never be input or disclosed directly to unauthorized external programs, websites, or AI.
