Bitmine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR), the digital asset treasury company chaired by Tom Lee, has been purchasing Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) on a weekly basis for 14 consecutive months.

The company’s buying activity has been aggressive, with a single-day purchase of 9,926 ETH worth approximately $19 million recorded on August 17 alone.

Just six days after that purchase, Bitmine acquired another 32,447 ETH, underscoring the relentless pace at which the company is accumulating the cryptocurrency.

Ethereum’s price has surged 28% in the 30 days ending August 27, representing a sharp reversal after an extended period of weakness in the market.

Bitmine operates as a digital asset treasury, meaning its core business model is to issue new shares of stock and deploy that capital directly into purchasing and holding Ethereum.

The model depends heavily on the stock trading above the value of the coins backing each share, a condition that is far from guaranteed and carries significant risk for investors.

The company is currently deep in the red on its holdings, having paid $19.1 billion for Ethereum that was worth only $10.9 billion as of May 31.

To help offset dilution from share issuance, Bitmine has repurchased 20.8 million of its own shares since July, providing some balance to its capital management strategy.
