  • Cal State East Bay and CSU San Marcos will participate in a $37.5 million NSF-funded UC Berkeley-led initiative to expand undergraduate education and workforce pathways in quantum information science.
  • Cal State East Bay is developing an undergraduate minor in Quantum Information Science and Technology covering quantum mechanics, quantum programming and laboratory work, with a planned launch next academic year.
  • The universities will also help develop shared CSU curriculum and a Quantum Information Science Summer Camp at UC Berkeley, with opportunities for students to work with quantum hardware and researchers.

A new $37.5 million National Science Foundation investment will help bring quantum science out of research labs and into undergraduate classrooms. As part of the UC Berkeley-led initiative, Cal State East Bay and CSU San Marcos will help develop programs that prepare CSU students to enter this rapidly growing field.
