The Crypto Fear & Greed Index has a current reading of 40 and has registered barely any movement in recent days.

For comparison the Fear & Greed index had been as high as 68 in August 2025, which is a greedy level, and it showed extreme fear with a reading of five this past February.

Over the past month though, the index has moved from 28 to 40, which is essentially a neutral reading for the index.

More From Cryptoprowl:

Analysts say the Crypto Fear & Greed Index remains muted largely because Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC), the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, remains rangebound.

Bitcoin continues to trade in a narrow band of $60,000 U.S. to $65,000 U.S. Multiple attempts by BTC to break above resistance at $65,000 U.S. have failed in recent weeks.

The muted action in the Fear & Greed Index reflects the fact that Bitcoin has been stuck in its current trading range since late June of this year.

Other cryptocurrencies, such as Ethereum (CRYPTO: $ETH) and XRP (CRYPTO: $XRP), are also stuck currently and unable to break above key resistance levels.

There had been hope that passage of the Clarity Act crypto legislation in Washington, D.C. would get Bitcoin and other digital assets out of their funk.

However, lawmakers have now pushed any further votes on the Clarity Act out to September following their summer recess.
