Crypto Services: Hacker Attacks Up 2.5 Times

In the first half of the year, crypto services have been hit by hackers much more frequently: the number of attacks increased 2.5 times compared to last year, with total losses estimated at $1.3 billion.

According to experts from the company “Shard,” the intensity of attacks on cryptocurrency infrastructure has increased sharply, although the total amount of losses turned out to be lower than the previous year. Then, losses approached $2 billion, but the statistics were heavily skewed by a major hack of the Bybit exchange, which accounted for more than half of all losses.

The situation looks different now. There are more incidents, and the targets of attackers are more diverse. Exchanges, wallets, asset storage services, and platforms related to digital currency circulation are all being hit. Cryptocurrency has long ceased to be a niche tool, so interest in it is growing not only among investors but also among hackers.
