Le fournisseur de services publics municipaux EPB a officiellement lancé l'ordinateur quantique à ions piégés IonQ Forte Enterprise au centre-ville EPB Quantum Center à Chattanooga, Tennessee. Ce déploiement fait de l'installation le premier centre commercial des États-Unis à intégrer des unités de traitement quantique à ions piégés (#AQ 36) aux côtés d'une infrastructure de réseau quantique basée sur la photonique sous un même toit opérationnel.

L'accès informatique initial est priorisé pour les EPB Quantum Computing Fellows — une équipe de recherche de troisième cycle de huit membres soutenue par une subvention de $4 millions du National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) — pour exécuter des algorithmes conçus pour optimiser les topologies de circuits, réduire les pertes de puissance et améliorer la résilience du réseau intelligent automatisé d'EPB. L'accès au service commercial, sous la marque EPB Quantum Computing℠, ouvrira début octobre 2026, avec l'Université du Tennessee à Chattanooga (UTC) et l'Université Vanderbilt comme principaux clients académiques.

EPB accueillera également la conférence Quantum in Business (QiB) le 1er octobre pour démontrer l'intégration commerciale des QPU et des réseaux quantiques pour les secteurs de la logistique, de la fabrication, de la finance et de l'énergie.
