Former Ripple CTO David Schwartz said XRP could eventually surpass Bitcoin (BTC) in terms of market capitalization.
Schwartz said that would happen not because Bitcoin loses value, but because the price of XRP rises faster.

Crypto media outlet CoinGape reported on September 9 that Schwartz made the remark on X, formerly Twitter, in response to a question during a Space about whether XRP could overtake Bitcoin. He said that would happen not because Bitcoin loses value, but because XRP rises faster.

Schwartz said XRP could appreciate rapidly if use of the XRP Ledger continues to expand. He also said the ledger has significant room for further growth from a technical perspective.

He added that users may prefer features not supported by Bitcoin, and said expanding the XRP Ledger's functionality and use cases could become a driver of future growth.
