Former SEC Officials Join Labaton to Lead Whistleblower Group

Plaintiffs’ firm Labaton Keller Sucharow is picking up a pair of former top Securities and Exchange Commission officials to relaunch its whistleblower representation practice, the firm announced on Wednesday.

Former SEC Acting Chair and Commissioner Allison Herren Lee and former SEC Senior Counsel Andrew Feller will lead the practice at the firm, which specializes in complex litigation and investor and consumer protection actions.

Lee was appointed by President Trump to the SEC in 2019. President Biden appointed her as acting chair of the commission, a role she held through April 2021. She continued to serve as a commissioner until July 2022. As the SEC’s interim leader, Lee helped propel environmental, social and governance issues to the forefront of the agency’s agenda.

Before her move to Labaton, Lee was of counsel at DC whistleblower firm Kohn, Kohn & Colapinto.

Labaton has notched big wins against some of the biggest companies, including a historic jury verdict in a dataprivacy case against Meta Platforms, Inc. last year. It has a deep bench in securities, derivatives, and capital markets focused on investor and fraud protection, Lee said in an interview.

“It’s the same mission that Andrew and I supported at the SEC so we think integrating our practice into a team with that kind of orientation and that kind of depth is really a perfect match,” she said.
