WASHINGTON — A top cryptocurrency campaign organization plans to donate $1 million to Rep. French Hill, giving the Republican incumbent a boost in his race against Democrat Chris Jones for Arkansas' 2nd Congressional District seat.
A Minnesota-based super PAC, Fairshake released Monday to the Associated Press a bipartisan list of House candidates the group plans to support in next month's midterm elections. Hill is among six House members the group says will receive $1 million apiece.
Hill long has been at the forefront on cryptocurrency regulation, introducing an industry-favored bill last year. The House Financial Services Committee chairman in July led calls on the Senate to pass crypto legislation.
Earlier Monday, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced it is moving the contest in Arkansas' 2nd District to its "Red to Blue" program, a decision indicating the organization considers Hill to be vulnerable.
Fairshake’s list includes 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats. All 32 supported legislation that was a top priority for the industry.
The bipartisan slate pales in contrast to Fairshake’s biggest general election investment so far. The group announced plans in September to spend nearly $30 million against Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown in Ohio, who is facing Republican Sen. Jon Husted in one of the most competitive races of the cycle.
