G20 Crypto Regulation News: Clear Rules Backed, Stablecoins Wait

In the latest Crypto Regulation News, its finance ministers and central bank governors backed clearer regulatory and supervisory frameworks for digital assets on September 1, 2026. 

According to the official G20 Chair's Statement published by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. 

The statement was issued after a two day meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, and said the group would work toward sound financial and asset innovation while preserving financial stability. 

As of September 6, 2026, the Financial Stability Board is still reviewing global stablecoin arrangements, so stablecoins were kept out of this specific commitment.

What Did the Chair's Statement Say About Digital Assets?

According to paragraph 16 of the statement, the committed to advancing responsible and effective regulatory and supervisory frameworks that preserve financial stability, support economic growth, and establish clear pathways for sound financial and digital assets innovation. 

This summit outcome extends work the group began through a joint crypto asset roadmap in 2023.
