GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - In this week’s Tech Tuesday, our partners at UF Innovate and SCAD Media feature Clinicals, an app bringing artificial intelligence into nursing education. Dr. Michael Bumbach shares how the technology gives students a “simulation lab in your pocket,” helping them practice clinical skills anytime, anywhere.

“How are new technologies advancing the learning of nursing students? Let’s learn more. Dr. Bumbach, tell me a little bit more about who you are and what you do,” said Angela Martinez Aponte, host of UF Innovate.

“Yeah, thank you. I’m a clinical associate professor here at the [University of Florida’s] College of Nursing, and I work with technology, very specifically artificial intelligence [to teach] nursing students competencies. We’ve developed an application called Clinicals, and we call it a “simulation lab in your pocket.” So bringing the sim lab to the students [so] that they have access to [it] at any point in time using artificial intelligence, AI, for communication, for grading, for learning, for producing that learner-patient interaction that nursing students need to be able to be competent or good at the bedside,“ said Dr. Michael Bumbach, clinical associate professor at the University of Florida
