Nvidia Corp.'s stock jumped 8.7% in a single session, adding about $442 billion in market value. It was the second-largest one-day increase in market capitalization ever recorded by a single company.
BlockBeats, a cryptocurrency-focused media outlet, reported on August 28 that Nvidia shares rose 8.7% the previous day, their biggest daily gain since April 2025. The surge increased the company's market capitalization by about $442 billion in one day, taking its total value to about $5.5 trillion.
The gain was second only to Microsoft's roughly $450 billion one-day increase in market value less than a month earlier. Nvidia had also added about $440 billion in market value in a single day in April 2025.
The sharp move was driven by Nvidia's strong revenue outlook. The company projected revenue growth of about 70% for the next fiscal year, well above the market expectation of about 45%.
JPMorgan said Nvidia's forecast may still be conservative. Because the company set its outlook to reflect supply constraints, demand could have been even stronger if supply had been sufficient.
