OpenAI says an unreleased internal model has resolved more than 100 long-standing open problems spanning most branches of mathematics, and it did so in roughly 24 days of training. The company disclosed the claim on September 21, 2026, less than two weeks after a separate announcement that one of its systems had produced a solution to the Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness problem, a nearly 90-year-old question that sits among the seven Millennium Prize Problems tracked by the Clay Mathematics Institute.
