Pasqal Ends Defense Program, Eyes Civilian Quantum Support

Pasqal (Nasdaq: PSQL) will refocus its efforts on commercial quantum computing applications after meeting all technological goals in the first phase of the LSQUARE defense program. The French company, which operates the second largest fleet of complex quantum computers globally, is now responding to a request from the Secrétariat général pour l’investissement and Direction générale des entreprises to develop a research program for fault-tolerant quantum computing using its neutral-atom technology.

Pasqal Shifts Focus from LSQUARE Defense Program to Civilian Applications

Pasqal successfully met all technological goals within the initial phase of the LSQUARE (PROQCIMA) defense program before ending its involvement, demonstrating the decision was not due to technical shortcomings. Confirmation from the French Direction générale de l’armement (DGA) of these completed objectives allows Pasqal to redirect resources toward commercial quantum computing development, the company says. This request highlights the government’s continued commitment to Pasqal’s technological approach, recognizing the company’s capabilities and commercial progress.
