Meanwhile, the lower house voted on the Digital Asset Market again after Nawrocki vetoed it but fell short of the majority required to override the veto.
According to the reports, out of the 442 lawmakers present, 241 voted to override the veto, 198 voted against it and three deliberately chose not to vote. The bill aimed at implementing the European Union’s Crypto-Assets regulation.
The legislation would also provide the KNF authority to stand for crypto-asset service providers, impose fines, block accounts and cease transactions.
Nonetheless, Nawrocki rejected the bill for a third time in June, arguing that while regulation is necessary, the government’s proposal would stifle the crypto market and encourage Polish companies to relocate internationally without the necessary revisions.
In addition, crypto observers are split over the move with some feeling relieved and others concerned about investor uncertainty.
