Polymarket prices Machado entering Venezuela by Oct. 15 at 25% (+300). The same market has Oct. 31 at 41% (+144) and Dec. 31 at 55% (-122), with $6.6 million traded. The crowd thinks she is slightly more likely than not to get home this year, and unlikely to do it in the next seven days.

The headlines say something else. Henry Alviárez, a coordinator for her Vente Venezuela party, told NTN24 this week that the return could happen "in the coming hours," with legal and diplomatic arrangements being finalized. Machado wrote on Tuesday that she will go back to be with Venezuelans "at this stage." President Trump, asked on Monday about her return, said everything will turn out well.

The record points the other way. Machado left in December 2025 to collect the Nobel Peace Prize, and her team says Venezuelan authorities have blocked at least seven attempts to return by air and sea, the last three from Panama. Her inner circle told Spain's El Debate that an imminent return is not on the table for the coming hours. Secretary of State Marco Rubio spent part of Wednesday in Athens denying a Wall Street Journal report that Washington had discouraged the trip. Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, who took over after Nicolás Maduro's capture in January, still controls the airports and the borders.
