The recent 25-hour price movement of PYTH is primarily driven by the renewed focus on Pyth DAO's "100% rule" for revenue-funded buybacks and the project's revenue metrics, followed by profit taking in a mostly flat market.
100% Revenue Buyback Rule As The Main Catalyst
Pyth DAO recently formalized the “100% rule” under proposal OP-PIP-136, which directs all eligible product revenue and non-PYTH treasury assets toward open-market purchases of PYTH.¹
A detailed piece published on 9 Oct reports that the DAO has moved from ad-hoc votes to a standing policy where 100% of eligible fees from products such as Pyth Pro, the Data Marketplace and indices are used to buy PYTH on the market, with constraints like a per-trade size cap and slippage limits.
The same report highlights that Pyth’s annual recurring revenue reached about $11.5 million in September, up roughly 86% quarter on quarter, and that the strategic reserve has already been buying PYTH monthly since late 2025.¹
Although the proposal itself passed earlier, this fresh, detailed coverage and social amplification in the last day pulled attention back to the token, which was already up about 54.18% over 30 days and about 1.26% over 7 days, setting up a “buy the rumor, sell the news” dynamic.
