French silicon spin-qubit hardware developer Quobly and cryogenic engineering firm Absolut System have signed a multi-stage Industrial Partnership Declaration to co-develop high-cooling-power cryogenic infrastructure. Reaching their initial milestone under the French Cryonext program, the partners qualified the QCube® 100-Class 3 platform—a dedicated sub-kelvin refrigeration system engineered to support the thermal dissipation requirements of Quobly’s Alloy quantum processor family.

The QCube® 100-Class 3 platform delivers 100 mW of continuous cooling power at 500 mK, providing integrated thermal, mechanical, and radio-frequency (RF) interfaces to operate co-packaged cryogenic control electronics alongside spin-qubit processors. Built on 300mm Fully Depleted Silicon-on-Insulator (FD-SOI) wafer lines in co-design with STMicroelectronics, Quobly’s architecture integrates control logic directly on-chip. This integrated Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI) approach shifts the primary scaling bottleneck from physical chip size to cryogenic heat dissipation, requiring purpose-built refrigeration platforms.

[ Quobly & Absolut System Cryogenic Scaling Roadmap ]
Cooperation PhaseCryogenic Infrastructure MilestoneTarget System Hardware Scale
Phase 1 (Current)Qualification of QCube® 100-Class 3 (100 mW at 500 mK)Initial Alloy QPU & Cloud Launch (Late 2026)
Phase 2Industrial replication doubling thermal dissipation capacityMulti-chip prototype integration
Phase 3Next-generation high-density, multi-watt sub-kelvin platform100,000 physical qubits (2027–2029 Target)
Phase 4Volume production of modular cryogenic units1,000,000 physical qubits / FT (2030–2032 Target)

The joint roadmap is aligned with Quobly’s commercial milestones, which schedule initial cloud availability for research users by late 2026, scaling toward 100,000 physical qubits between 2027 and 2029, and reaching one million qubits for fault-tolerant computing by 2032. Supported by a €115 million Series A funding round completed in June 2026, Quobly is securing its European silicon-28 supply chain with partners including Soitec, Air Liquide, and Orano, leveraging the Grenoble deep-tech hub to establish standardized, mass-manufacturable quantum hardware.
