French chipmaker Sequans Communications has completely unwound its corporate Bitcoin strategy, announcing the sale of its final 314 tokens on September 24. The divestment closes a chapter that began in mid-2025 when the company aggressively accumulated more than 3,200 BTC, a position it began scaling back within months as financing priorities shifted.

The Paris-based semiconductor firm said the liquidation follows the full redemption of its convertible debt in May, a move that leaves it with no cryptocurrency holdings and no outstanding obligations beyond government-financed research and development commitments. Georges Karam, the company's chief executive, framed the exit as a strategic reset rather than a retreat from digital assets.

"With the convertible notes redeemed and a very strong balance sheet in place, we can now focus entirely on our semiconductor growth strategy," he said in a statement.

Sequans intends to channel its resources back into its core businesses: cellular Internet-of-Things connectivity and software-defined radio technology. The company had initially described Bitcoin as "a premier asset and a compelling long-term investment" when it unveiled a $384 million capital raise in June 2025 to fund the treasury initiative.
