According to virtual asset industry data on the 28th, among coins listed on South Korea's four largest exchanges—Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, and DigitalX—39 coins were trading below 1 won as of 4:10 p.m. on the 24th, excluding duplicates.
By exchange, Bithumb and Coinone each had 26 such coins, while Upbit and DigitalX each supported trading in 8.
The reasons for falling below 1 won vary. Some coins have maintained low unit prices since inception, while others have collapsed into fractional-coin territory after sharp post-listing declines.
One coin listed on Coinone in November last year surged to 143.3 won (approximately $0.11) on its debut day but has since declined steadily, trading below 1 won since July this year. The token is currently designated as a trading-caution asset, recording 40% daily swings despite trading volume of barely 30,000 won (approximately $22).
