Twenty One Capital verzeichnete im zweiten Quartal einen Nettoverlust von $413.5 Millionen, was hauptsächlich auf den sinkenden Wert seiner massiven Bitcoin-Bestände zurückzuführen ist, während der neu ernannte CEO Raphael Zagury Pläne vorstellte, das von Tether unterstützte Unternehmen in eine umfassendere Bitcoin-Betriebsgesellschaft umzuwandeln.

Das an der NYSE notierte Unternehmen (XXI) verzeichnete einen Verlust von $401.5 Millionen aus Wertänderungen seiner Bestände an digitalen Vermögenswerten, was mehr als 97% seines Gesamtverlustes ausmacht.

Twenty One hält 43,514 Bitcoin (BTC) im Wert von rund $2.78 Milliarden zu aktuellen Preisen. Es rangiert als die zweitgrößte börsennotierte Bitcoin-Treasury, obwohl das in Japan ansässige Unternehmen Metaplanet die Lücke mit 43,000 BTC schließt.

Das Unternehmen beendete das Quartal zudem mit $106.1 Millionen an Barmitteln und rund $484.5 Millionen an ausstehenden Wandelanleihen.

Die Aktien von Twenty One stiegen während der ersten Handelsstunde am Dienstag um etwa 1% auf $4.62, obwohl die Aktie im bisherigen Jahresverlauf weiterhin fast 50% im Minus liegt.

Neuer CEO stellt Pläne vor

Die Ergebnisse kommen etwa drei Wochen, nachdem Zagury den Gründer Jack Mallers als CEO abgelöst hat, wobei Mallers zurücktritt, um seinen Fokus wieder auf sein Bitcoin-Zahlungsunternehmen Strike zu richten.

Im Zuge der Umstrukturierung der Führungsebene zog sich Strike auch aus einer geplanten Fusion mit Twenty One zurück, während eine potenzielle Übernahme des von Zagury geleiteten Bitcoin-Miners Elektron Energy in Erwägung gezogen wurde.

In seinem ersten Aktionärsbrief seit der Amtsübernahme räumte Zagury Bedenken hinsichtlich der Performance von Twenty One ein und sagte, das Unternehmen müsse beweisen, dass es über das bloße Halten von Bitcoin hinaus Werte schaffen könne.

„Twenty One besitzt eine der größten Bitcoin-Bilanzen an den öffentlichen Märkten“, schrieb Zagury. „Das ist ein echter Vorteil, aber wenn es sich lohnen soll, Twenty One zu besitzen, muss es mehr werden als eine Bitcoin-Treasury.

Er skizziert fünf Prioritäten für das kommende Jahr: Stärkung der Unternehmensführung, Aufbau oder Erwerb von operativen Geschäften, Entwicklung von Kapitalmarkt-Fähigkeiten, Aufbau einer M&A-Abteilung und schließlich die Einführung eines Bitcoin-Lending- und Kreditgeschäfts.

Er verwies auf Berkshire Hathaway als Blaupause für das, was er für Twenty One anstrebt – eine starke Bilanz, umgeben von unabhängig geführten Unternehmen, die Cashflow generieren, wobei er gleichzeitig einräumte, dass Twenty One „noch nichts verdient hat“.

Zagury ging auch auf die gedrückte Bewertung von Twenty One ein und sagte, Investoren hätten darauf hingewiesen, dass die Aktie mit einem „erheblichen Abschlag“ zu den gehaltenen Bitcoin gehandelt werde. Dieser Abschlag spiegelt sich im Enterprise mNAV von Twenty One wider, einer Kennzahl, die die Bewertung mit dem Wert der Bitcoin-Bestände vergleicht und laut Bitcoin Treasuries derzeit bei 0.7x liegt.
