Italy’s UniCredit is exploring a broader entry into the cryptocurrency market, including potential services for crypto custody, trading, tokenized investments and stablecoins, according to Bloomberg, as cited by @coinbureau
The European banking group, which has €34 billion in assets under management and serves more than 20 million customers, is reviewing technology providers as it assesses infrastructure for potential digital-asset services. No final decisions have been announced, and the bank has not provided a launch date.
UniCredit Reviews Technology for Digital Asset Services
UniCredit’s exploration covers several areas of the digital-asset market rather than a single cryptocurrency product. The bank is considering custody and trading services alongside tokenized investments and stablecoin-related offerings.
Its core markets include Italy, Germany, Austria and countries across Central and Eastern Europe. A rollout in those markets could give any future digital-asset offering access to a substantial existing customer base, although the bank has not confirmed whether all of the services under review would eventually be launched.
