  • How did the asset’s price change over the week?

The first cryptocurrency climbed steadily throughout the week. On August 24, 2026, bitcoin started around $77,000 and reached $80,000 the same day. On August 25, the asset surpassed the $81,000 mark. Over the following days, it traded near $80,000. At the time of writing, its price is $78,203:

  • What are experts saying about the crypto market’s rise?

CryptoQuant said that new bitcoin whales locked in more than $1.2 billion in profit in just three days after the first cryptocurrency’s price rebound, marking the largest profit-taking event for this cohort in the entire observation history. Analysts noted that this began after bitcoin moved back above the realized price of short-term whales — around $68,900. On August 23, the asset traded near $77,700, roughly 12.8% above this group’s aggregate cost basis. CryptoQuant called the situation an important test for demand: holding above this level and a normalization in selling could indicate that fresh demand is able to absorb supply. Otherwise, the rally could turn into a “break-even exit,” where investors who were previously underwater increase selling pressure on the market.
