White House crypto lead Patrick Witt has announced he is leaving the Trump Administration.

In a post on X, Witt said serving the Trump Administration has been the “privilege of a lifetime.”

“First and foremost, I want to thank [President Donald Trump] for the opportunity to serve the American people again in your second term. Your clear-eyed vision to ensure the United States remains the undisputed global superpower at this time of unprecedented technological change and geopolitical strife is critical to our nation’s future prosperity.”

Witt thanked a legion of policymakers for their support as Congress approved landmark stablecoin legislation, the GENIUS Act, but fell short in approving crypto market infrastructure legislation under the CLARITY Act.

Multiple insiders praised Witt’s efforts to advance strategic crypto policies and legislation. Brian Armstrong, Coinbase CEO, Vlad Tenev, Robinhood CEO, and many others expressed their thanks for Witt’s efforts.

Witt wore multiple hats within the White House, participating in policy goals beyond crypto. His titles, Executive Director, President’s Council of Advisors for Digital Assets; Deputy Director, Dept. of War Office of Strategic Capital, reflected his influence in the Administration and within the Department of War. Witt led the White House Crypto Council, a temporary entity set to expire. It was not yet clear who would take over the White House’s crypto portfolio, with digital asset policy entering a period of limbo as legislators focus on elections and regulators seek to establish updated rules that would clearly benefit from bespoke law.
