NEW YORK, September 5, 2026 at 8:12 a.m. EDT — U.S. spot bitcoin funds drew $174.6 million on Friday. That was 76% below Thursday’s eight-month high, while bitcoin slipped back under $80,000.

The retreat changes the weekend question. Thursday’s $730.8 million rush proved large buyers had returned. Friday showed they had yet to broaden or accelerate the trade.

The burst still left $905.4 million of net inflows across two sessions. Yet the second day supplied less than one-fifth of that total.

One surge, then a smaller follow-through

The two green sessions matter. Their uneven size makes persistence, rather than direction alone, the next test.

The four-day path was jagged. Funds lost $236.5 million Tuesday, gained $101.1 million Wednesday, then attracted $905.4 million over Thursday and Friday.

Concentration was the sharper clue. BlackRock’s NYSE:BLK iShares Bitcoin Trust NASDAQ:IBIT captured $454 million on Thursday and another $117.4 million Friday.
