Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP are heading into the Federal Reserve’s Sept. 16 decision with a more important question than whether policymakers raise rates: does crypto still react primarily to monetary tightening, or has the market already adapted to a world of higher yields?

Bitcoin was holding around $77,000, with Ethereum near $2,500 and XRP around $1.35–$1.40 after a volatile week dominated by inflation, oil and Treasury markets.

The surprise is that crypto has not broken substantially lower even though the 10-year Treasury yield approached 5% and the two-year climbed above 4.5%.

That resilience is becoming the more interesting signal.

Sept. 16 Could Bring Clarity, Not Just Higher Rates

Wall Street’s reaction to Friday’s CPI report offered an unusual clue.

Stocks rose even though the inflation data strengthened the case for tighter monetary policy. Investors appeared relieved that the report removed some uncertainty around the Fed’s next step, rather than focusing only on the prospect of higher rates.

That could matter for crypto as well.

Bitcoin spent much of September reacting to changing rate expectations, oil above $100 and rising yields. The earlier oil and ETF tug-of-war already showed BTC holding near $80,000 despite worsening macro conditions.
