Blockstream's CEO argues Bitcoin was built with a structural advantage that Ethereum's founders overlooked, while an Ethereum Foundation researcher just told major holders to brace for the threat that proves the point.

Blockstream CEO Adam Back believes Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic creator of Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), understood distributed systems better than the team behind Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH). This assertion comes the same week that Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake advised significant Ethereum holders, on October 7, 2026, to prepare for what he terms “bunker mode.” These two viewpoints stem from the ongoing debate over the potential risks quantum computers pose, which could theoretically crack private keys from their corresponding public keys. Although quantum machines have yet to achieve this, the timeline for such advancements remains uncertain. This raises the question: does Bitcoin offer better protection against these quantum threats than Ethereum, or does the difference become negligible when considering actual wallet usage?
