The first such venues opened before the widespread adoption of the Lightning Network and user-friendly crypto wallets. Customers often had to buy Bitcoin themselves, figure out wallet addresses and wait for transaction confirmation just to get a cup of coffee.
Today, most of these technical problems have been solved, but another advantage is disappearing: novelty. If an ordinary cafe can add Bitcoin to its existing payment terminal, a dedicated crypto venue has to offer customers something more than a QR code next to the register.
