Coinbase Global (COIN) Wins SEC Backing For Binaries And Flags Bitcoin Quantum Risk

Yahoo Finance reported that Coinbase Global, which trades under the ticker COIN, has won Securities and Exchange Commission backing connected to binaries. The report also said Coinbase flagged a quantum-related risk for Bitcoin.

The SEC is the principal U.S. securities regulator, and its involvement is closely watched by crypto companies as they expand products and seek clarity on how existing financial rules apply to digital-asset markets. Coinbase is a major U.S.-based cryptocurrency platform whose business spans trading and related crypto services.

The reference to Bitcoin’s quantum risk points to a longer-term cybersecurity issue facing public-key cryptography. Bitcoin relies on cryptographic systems to secure ownership and transactions, while advances in quantum computing are widely viewed as a potential future challenge for some existing cryptographic methods.
