Love/hate relationship with Artificial Intelligence

Truth be known, I don’t particularly care for AI — Artificial Intelligence. I am especially wary of it after the news reported over the weekend that AI could kill us all off in the near future. That being said, though, I kind of like AI.

Last week I was traveling along Highway 481 north of Morton where a chip and seal project is in progress on the road bed. Seems there is always some kind of overlay project going on Highway 481 north of Morton. Asphalt, chip and seal, patch, a patch, a patch, and start all over again.

As happens with a chip and seal project, every single vehicle that passed by me heading south on Highway 481 North of Morton, whilst I was headed north on Highway 481 north of Morton, showered my Ford Ranger with a shower of chip gravel. No seal, just chip.

The windshield, which was already popped and cracked, got popped some more and although not cracked yet, will upon the first freeze this winter. So be it. At least we don’t have to get inspection stickers anymore.

The windshield, however, was not my problem. During one of the showers my truck decided we were about to crash and began warning me of pending crash, and began stopping for me before we could crash, even though there was nothing into which to crash. The truck was apparently pretty upset as it went into low power mode — pout mode I suspect — and stayed in that mode until I got to my destination, parked and started it up again.
