Dortige Unternehmen haben in diesem Jahr rund $366 Milliarden an Venture Capital aufgenommen, wobei allein zwei Unternehmen für künstliche Intelligenz (KI) – OpenAI und Anthropic – die Hälfte dieser Summe ausmachen, wie das The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) am Donnerstag (Aug. 20) unter Berufung auf Pitchbook-Daten berichtete.

Dem Bericht zufolge ist die Zahl von $366 Milliarden mehr als das Dreifache des Venture Capital (VC)-Kapitals, das in diesem Jahr in die anderen 49 Staaten zusammengeflossen ist, und fast das Doppelte des im Vorjahr aufgestellten Rekords von California.

OpenAI sammelte im März $122 Milliarden ein, die größte Finanzierungsrunde in der Geschichte des Silicon Valley, während Anthropic $95 Milliarden in zwei Finanzierungsrunden aufgenommen hat.

Insgesamt haben in diesem Jahr mehr als 4,000 Startups mit Sitz in California Geld gesammelt, fügte das WSJ unter erneutem Hinweis auf Pitchbook-Zahlen hinzu. Nicht alle von ihnen waren KI-Unternehmen: Das Rüstungsunternehmen Hadrian Automatic sammelte $1.37 Milliarden ein und die Live-Commerce-Plattform Whatnot sammelte $545 Millionen ein, beide Runden wurden Anfang dieses Monats bekannt gegeben.
