AFR Commends Senators’ Rejection of CLARITY, the Billionaire-Backed Giveaway to the Crypto Industry

Following today’s failure to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the Senate, Americans for Financial Reform and Demand Progress Action’s Mark Hays, Associate Director of Cryptocurrency and Financial Technology, issued the following statement:

Today all voting Democrats and several Republicans stood up for the public interest and rejected the deeply flawed crypto bill that would have exposed our entire financial system, and all of us, to the industry’s endemic fraud, scams, and volatility and supercharged President Trump’s endless crypto grift. These Senators sent a clear signal to crypto billionaires that their pay-to-play scheme has run into serious trouble.

The filibuster of the CLARITY Act marks a victory for people across the country and a defeat for crypto oligarchs.

We commend Senators who voted to oppose the bill for blocking this dangerous legislation and standing up  for people and communities, not Wall Street or crypto billionaires.
