Strategy USD Reserve Hits All-Time High After 5X Growth, BTC Sale Cryptonews.net

USD Reserve and Duration Reach All-Time Highs

CEO Phong Le said in an Aug. 10 X post that Strategy’s USD Reserve and Duration reached all-time highs after growing more than fivefold in 2.5 months. The latest figures place the reserve at $4.65 billion with approximately 2.7 years of duration.

Over that period, the company added nearly $3.8 billion to the reserve, substantially expanding liquidity available for preferred dividends and interest obligations. The rapid increase coincides with a broader capital-management approach that includes equity issuance, preferred securities and bitcoin monetization.

Le stated:

“Our USD Reserve and Duration are now at all-time highs. In 2.5 months, we added nearly $3.8 billion and grew both more than 5X. This is the Digital Credit Capital Framework at work.”

An Aug. 10 Form 8-K showed that another $650 million was added to the USD reserve, bringing the balance to $4.65 billion. During the Aug. 3-Aug. 9 period, the company also sold 1,690 $BTC for $108.6 million and used the proceeds to repurchase STRC shares.

Reserve Grows From $871 Million to $4.65 Billion

The latest balance represents an increase from $871 million in late May, a gain of nearly $3.8 billion that pushed both reserve size and duration to record levels.

By July 27, Strategy had increased its USD reserve to $3.75 billion after adding $525 million, providing about 2.1 years of dividend and interest coverage. The reserve increase also coincided with a $25 million STRC repurchase, before the balance subsequently reached $4 billion and then climbed to the latest $4.65 billion record.

Strategy established its Digital Credit Capital Framework to govern reserve levels, securities repurchases and potential bitcoin monetization. Its board established a minimum USD reserve equal to at least 12 months of expected preferred dividends and interest expenses, unless a lower level receives authorization.

Bitcoin Sale Fits Broader Capital Strategy

Against the record cash position, the latest 1,690 $BTC sale shows bitcoin being used selectively within the same broader capital-allocation framework. The transaction generated $108.6 million, which went toward repurchasing 1,152,020 STRC shares rather than increasing the USD reserve.

The framework allows bitcoin to support preferred-security repurchases and other capital needs under specified market conditions. The latest transaction put that mechanism into practice while keeping the reserve increase and $BTC sale as separate funding actions.

The cash buffer has also taken on a larger role in covering recurring preferred dividend and debt obligations as the reserve has expanded. The USD reserve increased to $3.2 billion before the latest addition pushed it to $4.65 billion.
