As more businesses explore crypto payments, the real question is no longer whether the technology works. It is whether businesses can benefit from it without taking on the complexity that traditionally comes with digital assets.

The conversation around crypto payments has moved on.

For several years, much of the industry focused on adoption. Would consumers use digital assets to pay? Would businesses accept them? Would crypto move beyond trading and investment into everyday commercial use?

Those questions still matter, but they are no longer the ones I hear most from brokers, fintech companies and internationally focused businesses. The more practical question is this: how can crypto payments be introduced without asking the business itself to become a crypto specialist?

A company may see clear commercial value in giving customers more ways to pay. It may operate across markets where clients already hold and use digital assets, or it may want to reduce friction for international customers.

None of that means the company wants to manage blockchain networks, wallets, digital assets and transaction complexity internally.

Nor should it have to.

The complexity should sit behind the payment

From the customer's perspective, making a payment should be straightforward. From the merchant's perspective, what happens behind that transaction is considerably more complex.
