Amazon and OpenAI Team Up to Target ChatGPT’s US Users

Amazon Ads and OpenAI have entered into a partnership to sell ads within ChatGPT.

Advertisers can target OpenAI’s users through Amazon Ads’ demand-side platform as a way to extend their existing Amazon campaigns. The partnership is currently in pilot with U.S. advertisers, Amazon said. 

ChatGPT represents the bulk of OpenAI’s advertising revenue, and the business is on track to hit more than $1 billion over the next 12 months, OpenAI recently said.

Market intelligence firm Sensor Tower tracked a 163% increase in ads served per user per hour of time spent on ChatGPT in the U.S. in August, compared to April.
