El organismo de control de delitos financieros de Australia suspendió al operador de cajeros automáticos de criptomonedas Cryptolink Pty Ltd por tres meses, obligando a la empresa a cerrar 96 máquinas en todo el país.

El Centro de Informes y Análisis de Transacciones de Australia, conocido como AUSTRAC, dijo que la suspensión entró en vigor el 9 de agosto. Cryptolink no puede proporcionar servicios de activos virtuales mientras la orden permanezca en vigor.

Los cajeros automáticos de criptomonedas permiten a los clientes usar efectivo para comprar criptomonedas, sirviendo como un puente entre la moneda fiduciaria y las criptomonedas. AUSTRAC dijo que sigue preocupado por la capacidad de Cryptolink para gestionar transacciones que conllevan un mayor riesgo de lavado de dinero o financiación del terrorismo.

El regulador dijo que Cryptolink cumplió inicialmente con los términos de un compromiso exigible impuesto en octubre de 2025. Posteriormente, la empresa no presentó los informes de transacciones de umbral requeridos y no respondió a una solicitud de información de AUSTRAC.

El CEO de AUSTRAC, Brendan Thomas, dijo que esos fallos hicieron que el negocio fuera “demasiado arriesgado para seguir operando en la actualidad”.

El compromiso anterior siguió a una investigación del Grupo de Trabajo de Criptomonedas de AUSTRAC sobre presuntas infracciones de las normas contra el lavado de dinero y la financiación del terrorismo. El regulador citó informes de transacciones tardíos y debilidades en las evaluaciones de riesgo de Cryptolink.

AUSTRAC también impuso a Cryptolink una multa de 56,340 dólares australianos ($36,600), que la empresa pagó.
