Bitcoin (BTC-USD) opened at $76,143.81 on Thursday, September 17, 2026, up 0.7% compared to Wednesday's opening price. As of 7:23 a.m. ET this morning, the price of bitcoin moved up to $76,264.91.

Ethereum (ETH-USD) opened at $2,416.14 on Thursday, September 17, 2026, also up 0.7% from Wednesday's opening price. The price of ethereum moved up this morning to $2,432.60 as of 7:23 a.m. ET.

Both bitcoin and ethereum opened higher than yesterday and are moving even higher in early trading this morning following a unanimous decision to raise rates for the first time in three years.

But will just one rate increase be enough to quell inflation? One very well-known bank CEO says maybe not.

Despite recent price struggles, partly due to the CLARITY Act's failure in the Senate, bitcoin and ethereum prices are holding onto monthly gains of 21.2% and 28.9%, respectively.
