On October 6, 2026, the CFTC lists BTC, ETH, SOL, XLM, XTZ and XRP as examples of "digital commodities" under the CFTC/SEC taxonomy. The taxonomy describes these digital assets as generally not securities, providing an illustrative classification rather than a binding rule.

For Tezos, inclusion of XTZ reduces US regulatory risk by identifying it within a group of assets generally outside the securities classification. The reduced uncertainty over securities treatment supports a path to US market access. Because the classification is illustrative, it does not establish a binding legal determination, a confirmed listing benefit or the size of any repricing.

JUST IN: CFTC lists BTC, ETH, SOL, XLM, XTZ and XRP as examples of “digital commodities.”

Under the CFTC/SEC taxonomy, digital commodities are generally NOT securities.
