Bitcoin: Recovery Faces Dense Overhead Barriers
Bitcoin (BTC) has shown early signs of stabilization, trading around $63,400 on Wednesday after gaining 2.9% and closing above key resistance earlier this week. Later on Wednesday, BTC trades at $64,391, holding just above the 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) at $64,376, but price action remains constrained by a thick zone of resistance overhead.
BTC continues to trade below the 100-day EMA at $66,334 and the horizontal resistance level at $66,500, keeping the short-term outlook cautiously bearish despite improving momentum readings.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 52, indicating a slightly positive bias. At the same time, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) line is above its signal line and back in positive territory, suggesting rebuilding upside pressure that has not yet overcome the broader resistance structure.
| Bitcoin – Key Technical Levels | Level |
|---|---|
| Current price (Wednesday) | $64,391 |
| 50-day EMA (support) | $64,376 |
| 100-day EMA (resistance) | $66,334 |
| Horizontal resistance | $66,500 |
| 38.2% Fibonacci retracement | $65,547 |
| 50% Fibonacci retracement | $67,940 |
| 200-day EMA | $71,451 |
| 23.6% Fibonacci retracement (downside) | $62,586 |
| Horizontal support | $62,300 |
On the upside, initial resistance appears at the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level at $65,547, calculated from the May 26 high at $78,080 to the yearly low at $57,800 recorded on July 1. Above that, the 100-day EMA at $66,334 and the horizontal barrier at $66,500 form a significant resistance band. A decisive move through these levels would point toward the 50% retracement at $67,940, with the 200-day EMA at $71,451 marking a broader trend cap.
On the downside, the 50-day EMA at $64,376 is the first notable support. A daily close below this level would bring the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement at $62,586 and the horizontal support at $62,300 into focus as the next demand zone.
