Bitcoin Status Unchanged Despite CLARITY Act Stalling in Senate

The Senate’s failure to advance the CLARITY Act is not expected to significantly alter Bitcoin’s narrative in the near term, though delays in putting spot-market oversight into law could prolong regulatory uncertainty, according to a new analysis.

BitPlanet Research Lab, a research institute under digital-asset treasury company DAT BitPlanet, published the regulatory report on Sept. 23.

The U.S. Senate on Sept. 15 rejected a cloture motion to begin debate on the CLARITY Act by a 49-50 vote, the report said. The measure fell 11 votes short of the 60 needed to proceed, preventing debate on amendments and a final vote on the bill. Procedures for reconsideration are under way, leaving open the possibility of another vote.
