The hunt for answers is on after a Bitcoin mining site caused a massive water leak last month in El Reno.
The incident led to 3 million gallons of water being lost and a multi-day search for the cause. Now, a company has 30 days to determine whether it will shut down the data center or show progress in addressing the issues.
Massive El Reno water leak
So far, there have been no answers or apologies given by the people representing the company at the center of El Reno's recent water crisis. Athlon's facility was the source of a massive water leak that drained more than 3 million gallons from the city's system.
Many residents were left without water, and schools and other facilities were forced to close.
El Reno resident Sarah Pedro told KOCO 5 that the impact was felt far beyond the water meters. She said families had to go without basic necessities while organizations and businesses stepped up to provide bottled water.
"You know, a lot of people went without water. So many organizations and companies stepped up and donated water to all the residents, which was very, very thankful and appreciative that that was able to put in," Pedro said.
