Pritzker, IBM unveil quantum computer fueled by state taxpayers

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and IBM have unveiled a quantum computer backed by state taxpayer funding, according to a report published by AOL.com. The announcement links Illinois’ public investment agenda with IBM’s work in quantum computing, a field focused on machines that use quantum-mechanical effects to process certain types of information.

Quantum computers are different from conventional computers, which encode information in binary bits.
