Post-quantum infrastructure company QuFi Network has launched a verification platform designed to guard against threats from quantum computers without requiring changes to existing blockchain networks.
Cointelegraph reported on September 4 that QuFi unveiled a platform built on a structure that separates transaction verification from settlement. Under the model, a decentralized node network first verifies transactions using post-quantum cryptography before they are finally settled on an existing blockchain.
QuFi also introduced uBTC, a proof-of-concept token operating on Bitcoin testnet4. uBTC generates cryptographic proofs that verify Bitcoin collateral and control asset transfers between settlement environments, while final redemption is processed as a standard Bitcoin transaction. By using an external verification layer, the system reduces the storage, bandwidth and computing burden that comes with directly adding post-quantum signatures to individual blockchains.
In August, StarkWare tested quantum-resistant transactions on the Bitcoin mainnet without a hard fork, but the process required several hours of computation and cost about $150 to $200. In the same month, banks and regulators in Europe, the Middle East and Asia also participated in pilot tests for post-quantum wallets and on-chain transfers.
