Russia will open a regulated path for cryptocurrency trading on September 1, giving ordinary investors legal access to digital assets while placing strict limits on how they participate.

Under the new Russia crypto trading framework, non-qualified investors can buy up to 300,000 rubles, or roughly $3,800, annually through each licensed intermediary. They must also pass a risk-assessment test, while initial public trading will focus on Bitcoin, Ethereum and Tether’s USDT.
