WASHINGTON, D.C. (KFYR) - The U.S. Senate rejected a cryptocurrency bill on Tuesday, killing any chance of passing the bill through legislation prior to the upcoming midterm elections.

The Clarity Act would have regulated cryptocurrency.

Senator Kevin Cramer posted on X, “Elizabeth Warren and the democrats blocked the Clarity Act because they’d rather obsess over President Trump’s personal finances than establish the necessary guardrails to secure American leadership in digital assets.”

Senator Cramer is calling for the administration to use its authority to finalize appropriate market structures for investors in digital assets.

Why this matters

The Senate’s rejection delays a proposed federal framework for cryptocurrency regulation, leaving market-structure questions unresolved through the upcoming midterm elections. It could increase reliance on administrative action and prolong regulatory uncertainty for digital-asset investors and firms.
