Físicos de The City College of New York han demostrado una nueva forma de transferir señales de microondas a la luz utilizando ondas magnéticas dentro de un semiconductor en capas. El trabajo establece una plataforma de materiales para construir interfaces que algún día podrían vincular computadoras cuánticas a través de redes ópticas. La investigación, titulada "Microwave-to-optical transduction using magnon–exciton coupling", fue liderada por el Laboratory for Nano and Micro Photonics (LaNMP) del CCNY, dirigido por el profesor de física Vinod M.
