UCSB Researchers Join Three NSF Quantum Leap Challenge Institutes

• Five UC Santa Barbara researchers will participate in three NSF Quantum Leap Challenge Institutes focused on quantum sensing, superconducting quantum systems and quantum computation.
• The eight QLCI institutes will receive a combined $290 million NSF renewal, with each institute receiving about $28 million to $37 million over five years.
• The institutes will combine research with industry partnerships and education programs covering workforce development, internships, K-12 programs and training for early-career researchers.

PRESS RELEASE — Through the National Science Foundation’s Quantum Leap Challenge Institutes (QLCI) program, several UC Santa Barbara researchers are poised to tackle hurdles on the road to building widespread, powerful quantum-based technologies.
